BIG Lobster at Red Lobster | Odaiba, Japan

Last few weekend, I had a trip to Odaiba with my colleagues. That was the fourth time I visited to Odaiba, a man made island in Tokyo. It is one of the popular tourist spots in Japan, famous with shopping and entertainment district. Rainbow Bridge, Statue of Liberty, Aqua City and the Palette Town Ferris Wheel are few famous spots in Odaiba. Of course that are not the all in Odaiba. While we walk around Aqua City, we found a restaurant that is serving lobster. Looking at the display set, it was so tempting. With a reasonable price of the set, we decided to give it a try.

 

Baked Durian Cheese Cake Recipe

"Is this a durian cheesecake? A piece of durian cheesecake in Continental bakery cost RM7++." My brother ask me this question when I pass him a durian crepe cake that I made few weeks ago. "Do you think durian can match with cheese cake? Not sure how will it tastes." A sentence made by Camus's mom when she ate the durian butter cake that I baked few weeks ago. With the questions and statements out from them, I have a strong believed that I must bake a durian cheese cake. To satisfy my baking desire and answer them with actual result. Due to last minutes decision of making this cake, I have no time to look into my own recipe book, hence I search the recipe from internet. I got it from Kitchen Corner, I have a confident that the recipe I get from this blogger will work well after read through her blog for quite sometimes. She is from Singapore and I found her blog during I surf for baking blog. Thanks Grace for the recipe. Ingredients:For the base:200g digestive biscuits100g butter, melted For the filling:500g cream cheese80g caster sugar220g durian flesh3 eggs (medium size, total about 160g)90ml milk1 tbsp + 1/4 tsp cornstarch Method:For the base:1.Stir all ingredients until combined.2.Press mixture into base. Set aside. For the filling:1.Beat cream cheese, sugar until smooth.2.Beat in durian.3.Beat in eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.4.Beat in milk and cornstarch until blended. 5.Steam baked at 150C for 30 minutes (I used smaller cake pan) or until light brown.6.Remove from the heat and leave to cool completely. Chill in fridge for 5 hours or overnight. I would say that the durian cheesecake tasted superb with creamy and smooth texture. I would strongly recommend this recipe to all of you. But due to I do not blend the durian, it effected the texture. I would suggest to blend the durian first if you prefer a very smooth texture of cake.

 

Ampang Homeland Yong Tau Foo 釀豆腐 | Ampang, Kuala Lumpur

Yong Tau Foo (stuffed bean curd) is a Hakka dish famous in Ampang, Kuala Lumpur. Tau Foo is stuffed with fish (or meat or pork) paste, hence the name "Yong Tau Foo". Since then, variety of vegetables or fried fritters is stuffed with the fish paste, but all are categories as "Yong Tau Foo". Two weeks ago, we travelled to KL for food hunting and shopping. Among the food we hunted in KL, Yong Tau Foo suits our taste the most! This was the first meal we hunted for when we first arrived in KL.  

 

Coffee Smith 咖啡史密斯 | Maritime Piazza, Karpal Singh Drive, Georgetown, Penang.

When there are more and more cafe open in Penang, I wish I could visit them one by one to enjoy a cup of coffee but I only managed to go one of them recently. It is Coffee Smith that located at Maritime Piazza, Karpal Singh Drive. We went there during Friday lunch, it was very crowded and we had to wait for a while to get our seat. The waiter gave us few copies of menu which I tought it was an advertisement booklet. I found it is quite special to printed menu in this way. After grance through the menu, I found that their foods are quite pricey. In fact most of the cafes are selling foods at higher price range nowadays. I ordered brunch set "Benny Duck Egg and English Muffin", it came with two duck eggs and ham on bread, two pieces of mini hamburger steak (very mini), fries and salad. This set includes one small cup of fruit juice and black coffee, RM24. The way they serve on "wooden plate" is special but I wonder how they clean the plate? Will it remained very clean after use for many times, will the stain leave behind the wooden material? They serve spaghetti too, Spring Vegetable Spaghetti at RM16. Hokkaido Scallops Cream Noodle at RM22. Portion was not big but taste creamy and delicious, you can find two scallops in the plate. Grilled Sandwich, Sicilion Chicken, RM14. I like the grill toast pattern. Caramel Macchiato, RM11. Nice latte art... 1340414818645Konnyaku jelly is a "QQ" type of jelly. I made this during our house party. This is a favorite dessert that my little niece likes to make.

To make this, just follow steps at the pack. First, mix konnyaku powder with sugar. Boil a pot of water, when the water is boiled, slowly pour in konnyaku and sugar mixture, stir the mixture at the same time. Get ready jelly mold and your favorite fruits. When jelly is boiled, pour into jelly mold. Remove jelly fom mold when they are completely cool. Keep in fridge before serve.
