Durian Butter Cake Recipe

I always wanted to bake something with durian since few years ago. Due to some reasons, I was not able to fulfill my dream. This year, I have try with durian butter cake. 

 

6 Days 5 Nights Relax at Chiang Mai (Day 4) | 废人废生活的清迈6天5夜行 (第四天)

Day4 Today we will check out from Baan Namping after 3 nights stay here. Today breakfast came with 2 choices, one American breakfast and one soup rice. We get one each. Soup porridge was good but compare with American breakfast, we still preferred American breakfast as the bacon tasted really good. We spent our morning relaxing in hotel and proceed to Chiang Mai city with taxi (Song Thaew) arranged by hotel's owner. 第四天 住了三晚Baan Namping,今天是时候退房了。今天的早餐有美式及饭汤两种,我们各点了一个。虽说饭汤不错吃,但比较起来,还是喜欢美式早餐, 因为培根实在是太好吃了。吃完早餐,我们回房待了大半天,才乘坐酒店安排好的双条出城去。 Soup rice Taxi driver dropped us in front of our hotel in city, Baan Hanibah. This hotel located in walking distance to Sunday market, a super big and famous night market in Chiang Mai city on every Sunday. After checked in to Baan Hanibah, we booked a package to elephant show on next day, then we went to Sunday market. 双条直接把我们停在将要入住的酒店外,Baan Hanibah是我们在古城内住的酒店。这酒店和周日市场的距离不远,步行就可,挺方便的。我们登记好一切,放好行李后,让柜台服务员替我们定购隔天的骑大象配套,就往周日市场方向去。 Song theaw Chiang Mai wall Day tour package Kaosoi restaurant, Wat Phra Sing, Wat Phan Tao, Wat Chedi Luang and Sunday market (red lines) location map While we were hunting for our lunch, we found one local shop selling local food. We got ourselves a bowl of Chiang Mai famous Kao Soi and tomyam seafood, together with a coconut drink. 我们走着找午餐吃,由于才三点左右,周日市场还没开,我们就步入一家卖当地食物的餐厅。看了看菜谱,点了当地著名的Kao Soi以及一碗东炎,再来一粒椰水。 Kao soi is a fried noodle in curry and coconut soup, with thick coconut taste and slightly sweet. Compare with Penang curry noodle, the coconut flavour is much stronger. Add some chilies paste if you like spicy. Kao Soi是碗类式咖喱椰浆的汤面,面条是油炸过的,香浓带点甜味的椰浆汤淋在炸面上,非常好吃。比起我们的咖喱面,那浓椰浆来的更香滑可口,要是喜欢辣,可加入辣椒。 Kao soi Tomyam is added with coconut too, delicious. It is different compare with our local tomyam, which is more towards sour and spicy. 至于东炎呢,也是加入椰浆的,非常好吃,比起我们的酸辣东炎,真的不同。 Tomyam 由于两碗都是椰浆汤的,吃多了开始有点腻,再加上我们的椰水,全都是椰。要是缺乏胆固醇的你,这样的一餐肯定对你有帮助。这就是我们丰富的椰浆午餐啦。   Wat Pra Singh is one of the most famous temples in Chiang Mai. We walked around temper without enter to temper hall as need to pay for entrance fee. There are some stalls selling cloth, CD, foods at side of the temple too. I bought myself a pant from one of the stall here. 吃饱后,我们前往Wat Pra Singh,当地著名寺庙。由于入庙是需交付入门票的,所以我们只在外面看看而已。寺庙旁边也有一些小摊口,我在这儿买了一件短裤。 Wat Pra Singh We started our shopping at Sunday market after visited to Wat Pra Singh. It was really big market as mentioned by people who had been there before. Many of the things are repeated at few different stalls. 从Wat Pra Singh出来后,夜市摊口已陆陆续续开档了,我们就开始逛了起来。逛着逛着,实在是很兴奋,夜市实在是太大了,有种走不完的感觉。只是Camus的脚肿痛,走起路来很辛苦,所以走了一半路程,我们回酒店休息,又继续逛另外一半的夜市。虽说摊口很多,但很多也卖一样的东西,要是你在这挡买不成,可以在其他摊口找到。 Sunday market The same cuttle fish uncle from Saturday market Yakisoba Local dessert Fried worm / cacing Cute pao Delicious bihun with pork skin Sunday market We get some pants from here too, but mainly we bought foods from here. Wat Pan Tao and Wat Chedi Luang are located along Sunday market too, we visited these temples on Sunday night. 我们多半买吃的,食物便宜又好吃,吃得不亦乐乎。其中Wat Pan Tao和 Wat Chedi Luang是坐落在夜市的街旁,所以我们也在这时走去看看。 Wat Chedi Luang Wat Pan Tao

锵锵锵!第四天啦!来看看今天逛了那里吧... 25/10/2012 8:40 宝树堂店一大早把我们带到宝树堂店,看看介绍员把自己的手烫在热烘烘的粗铁条后,马上涂上他们的宝树堂。这也不是我们第一次来到宝树堂店,它也是中国知名的药膏,适用在被烫伤的皮肤上,涂后有着冰凉的感觉,有着不错的疗效作用。由于家里还剩着,我们也没多买。这家的介绍员也没那么讨人厌,不买也没派"小鬼"来缠身。 等待其他团友的同时,我们买了龟苓膏糖。糖果口感QQ的,我们都喜欢。也在这里买了龟苓膏来吃,虽然没什么特别,一罐RMB10就当作是享受吧! 25/10/2012 9:55 丝绸厂又是一间丝绸厂,我们几年前到中国苏州旅行时已去过了。这里可看到蚕宝宝出生直到长大的过程,再得知怎么把蚕吐出来,制造丝绸。看看过程是瞒不错的,但没心买的我们,就是觉得又在这里浪费时间了。等啊等啊,你不买,别人要买啊,就这样大半天完蛋了。  

 

Fast & Easy Kaya Jam Recipe

Hence came out my version. For those who like kaya, and lack of time or patient standing long hour keep stirring your kaya jam, my version is actually a very good try. It is better to make home fresh kaya jam since it is fast and easy to make. Try make a small bottle each time and finish it fast when it is still fresh, and make for new badge after finish. Ingredients: 90g sugar200 ml undiluted fresh coconut milk4 young/light green pandan leaves4 yolks (make sure no egg white at all) Method: 1. Cook sugar in a pot over medium-high heat until light brown, swirling slowly. Reduce heat to low. Keep swirling until sugar is medium-brown.2. Add coconut milk (beware of steam) and pandan leaves. Increase heat to high.3. Stir until coconut milk is just starting to simmer gently. Turn off heat.4. Slowly stir half of coconut milk into egg yolks. Next, pour all of egg mixture into remaining coconut milk in one go.5. Over medium to medium-low heat, cook combined mixture until slightly thickened.6. Reduce heat to low. Continue stirring until mixture is thick enough to coat spoon thickly. 7. Discard pandan leaves. Transfer kaya to a bottle. Leave until completely cool.8. Cover and refrigerate.

Cake can be baked in several ways, by using an oven which is the most common way. I knew that cake can be steamed with gas as well. But have you ever tried to bake a cake with rice cooker? Basically I do not hear people in our country bake with rice cooker, and I was surprised to see a book that introduces how to bake a cake with rice cooker. Without further consideration, I bought the book.
