Rice Cooker Fried Rice / Claypot Rice

After 5 days work, you will be happy to welcome your weekend, but two days weekend are too short for us to say bye bye to our tiredness. Normally, one day weekend will be spent for family and we will left only one day rest. To prevent get more tired, we cook a very simple meal for lunch and dinner during last weekend.       This was our meal, as described in title. Prepare ingredients by cutting them to small pieces.

Steam Chicken with Mushroom Using Cosway Steamer

Recently when we were doing house keeping, we found out that there is a unit of steamer given by Camus's mom. She bought it from Cosway many years ago but did not use it at all. We took it out from our store room and keep it at kicthen. Last two weeks, we used it to cook for our lunch and dinner. We found it quite useful and easy to use without dirty our kicthen, hence not much cleaning job after cook except for washing the steamer part by part after use. We first try with steam chicken with mushroon, the night before cook, we merinate two big chicken drumsticks with oyster sauce, soy sauce and pepper. To make the chicken more delicious, we added dried mushroom, red dates and ginger to the chicken on the day we cooked. Since the steamer contains three layers, we put in lady finger and corn too. With this simple and easy cooking way, we were able to enjoy our meal, and it was so delicious.

Japanese Rice Ball Onigiri おにぎり

Onigiri お握り or 御握り, is a Japanese rice ball made with white rice and shaped into traingular or oval shapes, it can be wrapped in seaweed (nori 海苔). An onigiri is normally filled with pickled ume (umeboshi 梅干), salted salmon, katsuobushi, kombu, tarako, or any other salty or sour ingredient as a natural preservative. You can easily get it from convenient stores in Japan. I made an onigiri in Japan, with a very simple ingredients and procedures to follow. Those ingredients can easily get in Malaysia too.

Yong Pin Restaurant Dim Sum 榕槟茶楼点心 | Penang

Out of many dim sum restaurant in Penang, Yong Pin restaurant is one of the best to Camus and myself. This restaurant has been serving dim sum for many years. We had our early breakfast at Yong Pin last week. We order few types of dim sum with a pot of hot Pu Er tea. Yong Pin Restaurant at Jalan Sungai Ujong. Lo mai kai (steamed glutinous rice with chicken), not oily and texture of glutinous rice was just nice, not overcook like many others dim sum restaurant did, but you can only find a small piece of chicken, pork and mushroom in it. We simply love the tradiotional taste of this fried radish cake. Not easy to get it at some where else. Tasted good and chewy fish ball, with green shallot and red chilli. Curd pork pao. My favourite golden yolk pao. Price for each type of dim sum and tea is clearly listed. Prices and photos for all types of Pao. I do not list out all types of dim sum that we ate, but most of them tasted good, we also bought their "sak kei ma" (1 box RM5) which was very nice too. Onigiri_7There is a new Japanese food restaurant open at Suntech Bayan Baru, Onigiri Station. Actually it is not newly open but yesterday was our first try there. We park our car at Sunshine Market and walk to the restaurant. Before we arrived at Onigiri Station, my brain already trigger me back to Japan. The fragrance from the restaurant was very similar to restaurants in Japan.

This restaurant is quite small and everything is self service. I ordered a set of salmon don, which came with miso soup and green tea ice cream. Free flow of barley tea and RO water are available too.

When the food was served, I look at the small portion of rice and thinking to order extra onigiri afterward. But I changed my mind after finish the set as it actually make me full. The rice is top with salmon flakes and fried egg, the sauce that mix with the rice was delicious.

Onigiri

My colleague order bento set which you can choose from tuna, tuna corn, beef and smoke chicken. He ordered beef bento.

The promotion don set with chicken and half boil egg is at RM8 per set, came with green tea ice cream and miso soup too. This set is my "wanted eat" set during my next visit as feedback from my colleague that it was very tasty.

I personally like this kind of concept restaurant (like the one I went in Japan) and I will definitely visit more often if they serve at RM5~6 price range for set menu. My colleague suggest that they should have big set by top up RM1 as this portion might not enough for guys.
