Dear MnYfoodtalk's readers, we have a good news to share! Please read carefully. MnYfoodtalk is established since 14 March 2009. Time flies, until today, we have already passed 4 years in our blogging life through MnYfoodtalk. It is happy to share our food blogging experience especially on dining places and recipes. We believed, to gain more experience and be better in cooking and baking is not only through practise, but also sharing. We gathered quite many recipes from other food bloggers and we sincerely hope that our experience in baking and cooking will give some inspirations to others too.

 

Kuro Goma Ice Cream | Japan Yokohama

During our visit to Japan Yokohama China Town, we noticed a black colour ice cream. It is now winter season in Japan, but the cold weather does not stop us from trying this unfamiliar colour ice cream. It is a black sesame flavour ice cream which cost 260 yen. Kuro means black and Goma means sesame in Japanese.              

 

Baked Durian Cheese Cake Recipe

"Is this a durian cheesecake? A piece of durian cheesecake in Continental bakery cost RM7++." My brother ask me this question when I pass him a durian crepe cake that I made few weeks ago. "Do you think durian can match with cheese cake? Not sure how will it tastes." A sentence made by Camus's mom when she ate the durian butter cake that I baked few weeks ago. With the questions and statements out from them, I have a strong believed that I must bake a durian cheese cake. To satisfy my baking desire and answer them with actual result. Due to last minutes decision of making this cake, I have no time to look into my own recipe book, hence I search the recipe from internet. I got it from Kitchen Corner, I have a confident that the recipe I get from this blogger will work well after read through her blog for quite sometimes. She is from Singapore and I found her blog during I surf for baking blog. Thanks Grace for the recipe. Ingredients:For the base:200g digestive biscuits100g butter, melted For the filling:500g cream cheese80g caster sugar220g durian flesh3 eggs (medium size, total about 160g)90ml milk1 tbsp + 1/4 tsp cornstarch Method:For the base:1.Stir all ingredients until combined.2.Press mixture into base. Set aside. For the filling:1.Beat cream cheese, sugar until smooth.2.Beat in durian.3.Beat in eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.4.Beat in milk and cornstarch until blended. 5.Steam baked at 150C for 30 minutes (I used smaller cake pan) or until light brown.6.Remove from the heat and leave to cool completely. Chill in fridge for 5 hours or overnight. I would say that the durian cheesecake tasted superb with creamy and smooth texture. I would strongly recommend this recipe to all of you. But due to I do not blend the durian, it effected the texture. I would suggest to blend the durian first if you prefer a very smooth texture of cake.

今天是行程的最后一天了,不舍的心情涌了出来。没关系,好好享受这一天吧! 26/10/2012 8:30 感谢导游把我们带到一家卖玉的店,让我们有机会遇见全香港最有孝心的儿子。由于这位儿子妈妈的脚不方便行动,所以这位身为儿子的,代替母亲从香港赶来广州拜佛。好虔诚,好孝顺啊! 母亲就是这玉店的老板,所以这个做儿子的就是代妈妈拜了神后,再来这店面做生意,就这样巧合下,才有机会迎接我们这一团。这儿子还说,他的妈妈是在大马嫁过去香港的,所以和我们这班马来西亚的团友就算是瞒亲的啦。儿子的这一番话是在是感动呐。。。但,我信你才怪!听到这个"儿子"的废话,什么肮脏话都想骂出来,不骂实在对不起自己的心脏,让自己压着气,心脏却气得跳到乱七八糟实在不好! 这"儿子"还说今天是不做生意的,看看就好,叫我们不要买。每个玉的价钱是上百上千元的,但因为我们是"亲人",原本上百的玉只卖人民币50,你信吗?信你才怪!实在看不过这种耍生意的手法,一来浪费时间说废话,二来看到这种虚伪的做法,实在看不下去。 还好,最庆幸的是,本团是没有任何人购买任何东西的。谢谢大家合作!要是这样也有人购买,实在是。。。无话可说啊!我说嘛,做生意,老老实实好的,别转弯抹角,虚虚伪伪,这招不流行了啦!   26/10/2012 10:30 发泄完毕,到了吃午餐时间,没错,听废话听了一个早上。接下来,吃深圳金钱豹自助餐时间到啦!这里有上百种的食物,有中餐,日本餐,西餐,意大利餐,海鲜类的,烧烤类的,果汁,蛋糕甜品,雪糕等等。。。任你吃。领队说,这一餐要RM100++的,还满贵的呢。

LittleCottage_2First of all, I would like to apologize to MnY blog's owner (Camus and myself) for publishing a poor quality photos. As mentioned in "About Us", the purpose of creating MnYfoodtalk.com is to share anything that is related to food. We will not only share "good" food but also "bad" food. Either "bad in taste", "bad in service", "bad in price" or anything else.

Today, we are going to share our year 2010 Christmas dinner celebration experience here.

On 25th December 2010, we celebrated Christmas dinner at romantic and good environment restaurant, Little Cottage. At first, we were regretted for not bringing along our DSLR to capture the romance moment there. But, there are few factors that make our mind decided that, "we must share about this even without DSLR, since we have our phone cameraCool".

So, what are the points that trigger our mind to share this out? By reading on the introduction, you may guess something "bad" had happened. Please continue read on to understand the situation.

  1. Punctuality
  • The restaurant supposed to open at 6pm, but when we arrived at 6pm sharp, they are not ready to serve us yet. Well, we don't mind to wait for another 10-15minutes as long as don't let us wait for too long.
  • We entered the restaurant at 6.30pm. At that time, waitresses were still busy walking here and there preparing things. The walking and chit chatting sound among them break the silent night.
  1. Service
  • Service is poor.
  • Water is served only upon request.
  • Waitress took back your plate without asking our permission, even before the food is finish.
  1. Food
  • Foods are just nice.

  • Food presentation for dessert was poor. The dessert's cups are different in size and cups are not well clean before serving.

  1. Price
  • Prices are not acceptable compare with their food presentation, quality and services.

However, the environment is good. Restaurant's decoration was attractive and able to bring out romance and quite environment IF WITHOUT the waitresses making noise thereYell. But we did observe that not all the waitresses served badly, we do hope that they will improve their quality in the future.

I also had bad experience with Little Cottage 2 at Waterfall Road. Thanks for sharing, this restaurant is now out of my foodlist :-).
