锵锵锵!第四天啦!来看看今天逛了那里吧... 25/10/2012 8:40 宝树堂店一大早把我们带到宝树堂店,看看介绍员把自己的手烫在热烘烘的粗铁条后,马上涂上他们的宝树堂。这也不是我们第一次来到宝树堂店,它也是中国知名的药膏,适用在被烫伤的皮肤上,涂后有着冰凉的感觉,有着不错的疗效作用。由于家里还剩着,我们也没多买。这家的介绍员也没那么讨人厌,不买也没派"小鬼"来缠身。 等待其他团友的同时,我们买了龟苓膏糖。糖果口感QQ的,我们都喜欢。也在这里买了龟苓膏来吃,虽然没什么特别,一罐RMB10就当作是享受吧! 25/10/2012 9:55 丝绸厂又是一间丝绸厂,我们几年前到中国苏州旅行时已去过了。这里可看到蚕宝宝出生直到长大的过程,再得知怎么把蚕吐出来,制造丝绸。看看过程是瞒不错的,但没心买的我们,就是觉得又在这里浪费时间了。等啊等啊,你不买,别人要买啊,就这样大半天完蛋了。  

 

Rice Cooker Fried Rice / Claypot Rice

After 5 days work, you will be happy to welcome your weekend, but two days weekend are too short for us to say bye bye to our tiredness. Normally, one day weekend will be spent for family and we will left only one day rest. To prevent get more tired, we cook a very simple meal for lunch and dinner during last weekend.       This was our meal, as described in title. Prepare ingredients by cutting them to small pieces.

 

Baked Mooncake Recipe 公仔饼/猪仔饼

My mother usually will buy home made mooncake (gong zai bing) from her friend every year. This year her friend does not make the mooncake to sell, so we make it ourself. It is not difficult to make this gong zai bing, we get ingredients and recipe from one of the ingredient shop in Penang. The sales person recommended us to use pure peanut oil as our cooking oil is not a pure peanut oil, they added a kind of essence to make cooking oil. I do not know how true it is, but from the price, they have so much difference in "real" peanut oil (RM11 for 500g) compare to our cooking oil. We also bought cake flour from her to make the mooncake but according to her, any medium protein flour will do. Recall back last year, I used low protein flour to make gong zai bing. Golden syrup is expensive too, RM11.50 for 1kg.  Ingredients:500ml golden syrup200ml peanut oil15ml lye water700g medium protein flour/cake flour Method:1. Mix golden syrup, peanut oil and lye water in big bowl until combine.2. Sift in flour and mix until combine. Do not overmix to prevent mixture become hard.3. Cover bowl and leave for 6 hours or overnight. (compare with my last year recipe, which need to leave for 2 hours only, the sales person said 6 hours will let the flour absorb oil/golden syrup fully and give the mooncake better taste)4. Preheat oven at 180C for half an hour.5. Divide dough to 40g each and roll it round, lightly press with palm to flatten it.6. Bake in oven (fan-forced) for 12 mins or until cooked. The gong zai bing smell and taste really good after baked. It is best to keep and consume after 3 days, as when the biscuit just out from oven, the texture is not soft yet. I will keep this recipe for future use. The same recipe can be used to make traditional mooncake (wrap with filling) too. Something About Myself with Chiffon Cake Some time ago, I have been working on chiffon cake. I failed almost all times when come to chiffon cake, like this one. Even though I had attended a part time baking course on baking chiffon cake, but when bake on my own, I still failed to handle it. I am not sure of what causes them failed, at the end I gave up on chiffon cake and any cakes that need folding egg white into egg yolk mixture, because I handled this so BADLY.

BelgiumWaffle_3I love to eat waffle especially when the waffle just comes out hot from waffle maker and waffle with peanut butter is always my first choice. I have even tried to make my own waffle with my sister in law's waffle maker which bought from Cosway. My homemade waffle didn't turn out as good as those sell outside. To me, good waffle should be crunchy outside and soft inside. Of course the taste should be delicious too.

Recently, I get to know about Belgium Waffle after my first try in Osaka Railway Station, Japan. The strong fragrance from the waffle store caught our attention. We bought a piece of plain waffle which costs 126 yen (about RM4.50). The Belgium waffle was very crunchy and tasted heavenly!Cool

I found that the Belgium waffle dough is different compare with normal waffle dough. Look at the dough from the photo below. They are not the same as usual liquid waffle dough.

I managed to get another piece of Belgium waffle from Tokyo for the same price. This is the outlook of the packing. Somehow, they are not as good as the fresh one.Frown

They have other flavors too, such as chocolate, mapple, rum raisin, almond, strawberry chocolate, white chocolate and etc. but I have never try them yet.

I will try to search for Belgium waffle recipe and try to make my own at home.

I was in Japan and loved these waffles. I can't find a way to order these from the company. Is there anyone willing to buy and ship these to me if I sent you the money?
