Home Dine Out Hong Kong and China

Heng Thai Seafood Restaurant (Thai-Chinese food) | Raja Uda

We found one Chinese-Thai food restaurant few weeks ago at Raja Uda, it was not our first intention to dine there. We were hungry and looking for something good and special for our dinner, we went to Kampung Baru for our first stop, looking for Japanese food, but there was an event held at Kampung Baru causing heavy traffic jam. We changed our dinner place to Salad Bowl at Chain Ferry, bad luck, it was closed on that day. We drove towards Raja Uda direction, Sawara steamboat get our attention and we sat in to read the menu. After 5 minutes, we walked out from Sawara due to super expensive of the meal. Finally, we went in this not so attractive but crowded restaurant. It was already 9pm and after make order, still have to wait for another 25-30minutes. I can say that it was worth waiting as the dishes that we ordered taste delicious and very similar to Thai local taste. That time was only Camus and myself, two persons cannot order much. One big fish, two big prawns and a plate of mix vegetable make us very full and satisfied. This assam Africa fish taste superb, hot, spicy and sour, just like assam soup. It came with some chinese cabbage too, very appetizing. This assam big fish cost about RM28, to me it is very worth as you will get big fish with delicious soup and vegetable in it. When make order, the waiter asked is 4 big prawns enough for us? We said yes, but after that, he reduce our order to 2 big prawns. I was thinking, har? 2 prawn nia where got enough? But for first time, I thought it would be good to try 2 first, in case not delicious. When they served, I was shocked as big head prawn really big in size, luckily we did not order 4, and this 2 big head prawn cost us RM40. Gosh! If I order 4, I have to pay for RM80!! This plate of big head prawns was super delicious, sprinkle with chopped garlic and bird chili on top. They steamed with a kind of sauce, slightly sour, very special and delicious, if you ask me how the big prawn taste, I can say it tasted like lobster and crab. How good if I have the recipe? Mix vegetable, RM8 taste good too. They cooked with 4 types of vegetables. To us, this is one of the best Thai food restaurant (another one is Mae Salong in Sungai Petani). They open during lunch time too. If you are looking for Thai food, visit this restaurant and give it a try. Location: 28, Jalan Raja Uda, Pusat Perniagaan Raja Uda, Butterworth, Penang. Baked Mooncake Recipe 公仔饼/猪仔饼

My mother usually will buy home made mooncake (gong zai bing) from her friend every year. This year her friend does not make the mooncake to sell, so we make it ourself. It is not difficult to make this gong zai bing, we get ingredients and recipe from one of the ingredient shop in Penang. The sales person recommended us to use pure peanut oil as our cooking oil is not a pure peanut oil, they added a kind of essence to make cooking oil. I do not know how true it is, but from the price, they have so much difference in "real" peanut oil (RM11 for 500g) compare to our cooking oil. We also bought cake flour from her to make the mooncake but according to her, any medium protein flour will do. Recall back last year, I used low protein flour to make gong zai bing. Golden syrup is expensive too, RM11.50 for 1kg.  Ingredients:500ml golden syrup200ml peanut oil15ml lye water700g medium protein flour/cake flour Method:1. Mix golden syrup, peanut oil and lye water in big bowl until combine.2. Sift in flour and mix until combine. Do not overmix to prevent mixture become hard.3. Cover bowl and leave for 6 hours or overnight. (compare with my last year recipe, which need to leave for 2 hours only, the sales person said 6 hours will let the flour absorb oil/golden syrup fully and give the mooncake better taste)4. Preheat oven at 180C for half an hour.5. Divide dough to 40g each and roll it round, lightly press with palm to flatten it.6. Bake in oven (fan-forced) for 12 mins or until cooked. The gong zai bing smell and taste really good after baked. It is best to keep and consume after 3 days, as when the biscuit just out from oven, the texture is not soft yet. I will keep this recipe for future use. The same recipe can be used to make traditional mooncake (wrap with filling) too. To make piggy mooncake, follow here: Before I end this post, MnYfoodtalk would like to wish everyone a very Happy Mooncake Festival!

Japanese Rice Ball Onigiri おにぎり

Onigiri お握り or 御握り, is a Japanese rice ball made with white rice and shaped into traingular or oval shapes, it can be wrapped in seaweed (nori 海苔). An onigiri is normally filled with pickled ume (umeboshi 梅干), salted salmon, katsuobushi, kombu, tarako, or any other salty or sour ingredient as a natural preservative. You can easily get it from convenient stores in Japan. I made an onigiri in Japan, with a very simple ingredients and procedures to follow. Those ingredients can easily get in Malaysia too.

Full sets of pump

This package includes one manual breast pump, one 160ml bottle, one 130ml bottle and 2 caps for milk storage purpose.

For the first time I used, I feel it is hard to control as I got around 1oz only, but it was after feeding my baby. Until now I had tried more than 5 times, it was ok to me. I also tried to pump in company whereby my baby not with me for around 8 hours, pump twice in company, but gave up on that as it took me more time with less milk, and can't work while pumping as I will need to hold it, not like electric pump, I use it with handsfree bra which allow me to control keyboard and mouse during pumping.

As for washing part, it's very easy as all the parts can be easily clean.

As conclusion, this manual pump will able to serve me during non working day when baby is with me, it's also good to boost up milk supply and to keep another bottle of milk in stock. Sometimes I will travel around during weekend, so it is also easier to pack this manual pump for travel, easier to wash as well.

It is a very good experience to try on both electric and manual pump, both have the pros and cons, I will choose which one to use base on different situation. Happy breast feeding!
