Kobe Beef and Kobe One Day Trip

After Kobe trip with wonderful kobe beef dinner on 3 years back, I have another chance to visit Kobe again to enjoy world's famous beef steak. From forum and internet, travellers' feedback on kobe beef lunch cannot beat dinner set. With previous experience which Camus and myself will never forget in our life, I decided to give lunch a try and then make a comparison between set lunch and set dinner. I did some survey before go for kobe beef lunch, Wakkoqu restaurant has many good review. So my plan is to visit this restaurant. We arrived at Sannomiya station on that day before 12pm and would like to have short walk around that area before go for lunch. When we just arrived at Sannomiya Hankyu Station, we saw a long queue outside another kobe beef restaurant. We walked closer to look at the menu, the price is more cheaper compare with Wakkoqu. I believed it has some good reasons why people queue for the meal. We followed the queue and had our kobe beef steak lunch. The restaurant I mentioned here is Steak Land. We were arranged to dine at second floor, they served in tepanyaki style and guests were sitted around the table while the chef will cook and serve at center area. After put order, they served us salad, miso soup, steak sauce and plain water. When they brought two big pieces of beef (for 4 serving) to the table, I was regretted with my decision made. By looking at the kobe beef, it looks not fresh with brown in colour. Oh no, my main target for this trip gone. I had to stop blaming myself at that moment and pray hard that the beef will turn out good in taste. Compare with previous kobe beef dinner, I had to agreed that lunch is really not as good as dinner. After looking at how the chef cook the steak (obviously not as "proffesional" as our kobe beef dinner's chef), I started to enjoy my meal. I changed my mind after my first bite on the medium cook kobe beef, it was still soooooo soft and melt in mouth. With 2980yen for this set lunch, I can say I was satisfied with it at this price. Of course, if you aim for better quality and environment, I would recommend Mouriya Restaurant which we went for dinner. After the lunch, we proceeded with our trip at Kobe area. We walked from Sannomiya to China Town, then to Harbourland. Then end our one day trip at Kobe. I wish to return again for next Kobe beef romantic dinner with my dear Camus.

 

Macallum Connoisseurs Cafe | Lebuh Macallum, Penang

Camus and I took a day off from our busy life to enjoy our own sweet time. He brought me to this cafe located at Lebuh Macallum. He told me we can have our breakfast with coffee and bread kind of breakfast which I like. We arrived there on weekday morning around 10:30am and the cafe was very empty, only one customer during the time we were there. Plenty of parking space outside the cafe. Cakes at RM13 per piece! After enter the cafe, a young man passed us a menu, we seated and read through the menu. I was shocked when look at the menu and do not know what to order at the first glance, I focus on the price and feel hard to choose my meal as they are very expensive to me. In the end, we get one Macallum breakfast and Smoked Salmon Bagel, one cafe latte and one cappucino, there gone our RM55! Talk about the cafe, I found this cafe is quite nice as the fragrance really attracted me when I first enter the cafe. I like the fragrance and it is quite different with other cafe as I can smell something soury. I am not sure what is this fragrance until I get my latte and cappucino. The sweet aroma of coffee taking over my senses, they are creamy, smooth coffee I longed for. Cappucino and Latte Maccallum breasfast came with sunny side up, avocado, chicken frankfurter, chicken bacon, grilled capsicum, baked potatoes, bread and salad. Portion is quite big. I like the chicken frankfurter which the size like german sausage. Smoked salmon bagel came with smoked salmon with wasabi cream cheese, rocket leaves and pinch of capers. I do not understand most of the terms mentioned in the menu except for "smoked salmon". Now as I am writing, I compare the menu and photo I took, I cannot find "wasabi cream cheese" from my photo, why? Mana dia pi? Oh, the one spread between the bagel? It's wasabi cream cheese? Not butter? To me, this smoked salmon has nothing special but I do like rocket leaves. And now I know what is capers, it is the small tiny things appeared on top of the roll smoked salmon. Ooppsss, we do not finish that even though only served with 3 biji, what a waste? I thought they were just a decoration to the smoked salmon... Overall, Macallum Connoisseurs Cafe is a good place to enjoy coffee but sincerely, it was a very expensive experience to me. Ki no me (kinome) Japanese Restaurant | The One, Penang

Ki no me, a Japanese Restaurant located at The One, Bayan Lepas. Before went there, comments from others about this restaurant are positive. Good food with good price, but need to wait for nearly one hour before the food was serve. When I blog for this restaurant, I google for Ki no me, and I found this: 木の芽, the young leaves of the sansho tree (Japanese pepper). I think the restaurant named after this leaf as I observed the wall is decorated with many greeny leaves. I believed they are ki no me. Today, we decided to give it a try, we were lucky as we get a parking space right in front of the restaurant and not crowded at the time we arrived there.

今天一大早就被叫醒,这也是我不喜欢跟旅行团的另一个原因。为了赶上每个行程,每天七早八早就要被吵醒。自由行就不同,你可以自己安排自己的行程,爱几点醒就几点醒哈!但跟随旅行团可免掉自己安排行程的麻烦,酒店也不必自己操心,有好有坏啦。

今天的开始是从香港点心开始。来到香港,点心是我们的另一个期待。由于酒店没包早餐,司机带我们到外享用早餐。我们抵达一间餐厅,那里的装饰不算豪华,就是有种老土的感觉,餐厅装潢好像七十年代的。

没多久,店员奉上一大碗粥,先说说粥吧,我本身是瞒喜欢的,它有着淡淡的干贝清香味,不错的。

再来,就是包点,Camus说它的皮很厚,我也觉得叉烧肉并不怎样。

至于猪肠粉呢,皮厚到你不能想象,像在咬面粉糕。

读到这,没到过香港的你,别太失望,也不必羡慕我们啦,真的没什么特别的。但说难吃并不是的,只是我国的点心也有他们的水准,甚至是超越的。或许还有其他比较好吃而我们没有机会品尝到的呢?

吃饱之后,导游带我们到香港珠宝店及干贝药材店。这些是"额外"加入的行程。跟团旅行,导游一定一定会带你逛这类型的店。这里是让他们有机会额外得到收入的地方。旅客在这里买了东西后,导游就能从中赚取利润。这也是我们不喜欢跟随旅行团的另一个原因啦。试想想,东西未必合你口味,交钱更不用说。要是团友有心买的话,必然的,会拖延到大家的时间啦。对我而言,这种"额外"添加地点最好是可以抽掉啦。

看!上半天的时间就是逛珠宝店和药材店,这样就用掉了我们半天行程。

又到午餐时间啦,今天是吃潮州餐的。由于下半天的时间会是在迪士尼乐园过的,导游说那边的食物很贵,所以建议大家在外吃饱后再进去玩。经过大家的同意后,每人各掏出HKD90来享用这午餐。

吃饱后,我们前往迪士尼乐园。途中,其中一个小导游开始拍卖啦。卖什么呢?还记得第一天在潜水湾的免费拍照服务吗?呐呐呐。。。来了纳。。。

导游:还记得你们昨天拍的照片吗?我们的小导游已经帮你们洗出来啦。现在他会分给大家,看看喜欢就卖,这小导游啊,很勤劳的,白天工作,晚上读书。他为大家拍照是业余的,只为了赚取一些外快。

呼哗!昨天不是说好免费吗?今天跑来收钱啦?一本几张照片的簿子和照片印在小盘上的东东要HKD200(RM80)?Money mouth

不买,我就是不买Tongue out!看惯了这种手段,不再花钱上当了。但,好多人都买的,我想,怎么大家都那么大方啊?到后来才知道,他们以为照片洗出来一定要买的,所以才买。原来不是我一个人认为导游们耍手段而已,大家都那么认为啊!

很快的,我们已经到达迪士尼乐园了。也许是上了年纪(哈哈),那些刺激性的游戏都不想玩了。领队为我们安排了节目,是适合"老人家"的。我们也加入"老人家"队啦!在里面,我们不玩刺激的游戏,所以只选择观看各样的表演,再来就是乘船啦,搭火车类的啦,这样就过了下半天。

女人街!是朋友口中响当当的一条街。不管你问到谁,他们必然会告诉你,这是shopping街。隔壁街是波鞋街和电器街。这里很像我国吉隆坡的茨厂街。卖的很多都不是正货,需要讲价。卖家会开出天大的价,当你说不买后离开他们档口时,他们就把价钱越开越底。直到你走得稍微远些,他们就会喊"都无心买的",就是这样的态度啦。所以我们到哪儿也是逛逛而已,以免讨价还价或不买后还招人讽刺。

我们也在这儿尝试了当地的臭豆腐,找了几条街,就只见一档卖的。而且它并不臭,不是那种在几里外就可嗅到的,就算站在当口面前也嗅不出来的,所以想吃的你得耐心找咯。至于味道呢,是咸咸,再占上酱汁来吃的。一小块要HKD10 (RM4)哦。

咖喱鱼蛋也是当地的出名小食,这个呢就好多档卖的。我们随便找了一档来试,但实在是不好意思的说,不好吃呐。。。

说来说去,一生人中有机会到香港体验及了解当地的生活,也是挺开心的。有机会你也到哪儿去玩玩哦!
