6 Days 5 Nights Relax at Chiang Mai (Day 1) | 废人废生活的清迈6天5夜行 (第一天)

Day 1 With Thai Airway, we fly at 8:10am early morning from Penang, arrived and transit Bangkok at 8:50am. Fly from Bangkok at 10:40am, we had arrived Chiang Mai at 11:50am. The total flight journey including transit time just took us about 5 hours, compare with Air Asia, longer time spent for transiting is actually a big waste. This is also another reason why we chosen Thai Airway. 第一天 我们乘搭泰航,早上八点十分的班机从槟城飞往曼谷,抵达时间为八点五十分。再乘搭十点四十分的班机转机飞往清迈,抵达时间是十一点五十分。槟城与清迈时差是一个小时。以短短的五个小时我们就能顺利抵达清迈。这也是我们选择泰航的其中一个原因。   By the time we touched down at Chiang Mai, taxi driver that we reserved through hotel already waited us at Airport. We quickly grab a free phone sim card and local map, then proceed to our first hotel, Baannamping. On the way to hotel, taxi driver dropped us at local market to buy some fruits, cup noodles and junk food. 当我们抵达清迈机场,司机已经正在等待迎接我们。我们快速的取了当地免费电话卡及地图,就前往Baannamping住宿。途中,我们请求司机停放我们在当地巴刹,购买些水果。我们买了三包各20Baht的水果,准备回旅馆享用。再到隔壁的Tesco Lotus Express买些杯面及零食,就回到旅馆。 Fruits, junk foods and cup noodles After checked in to hotel, we had our lunch at hotel's restaurant. The meals are not as cheap as what we had expected. A plate of fried noodle Pad Thai is 150Baht, fried rice is 150Baht, apple juice is 85Baht. For taste wise, fried rice is the best, although it does not look attractive and portion is very small, but it really tastes superb. Pad Thai is their local food with sweet and salty taste. The noodle is actually thin version of our koay teow. We expect for fresh apple juice, but it was just a juice from box packet. 抵达旅馆放下包包后,我们就到他们的食堂用午餐。打开菜谱,发觉价钱并没有想象中便宜。以为一盘饭面只需50Baht左右,但并非如此。由于肚子已在打鼓,所以就点了一盘炒饭150Baht,一盘炒面Pad Thai 150Baht,及一杯苹果汁85Baht。 等了一片刻,食物终于送上,果汁有点让我失望,原以为是新鲜果汁,但其实是盒装倒出来的。炒面是当地的食物,带点咸及甜味,觉得很不错。但,最令人难以忘怀的是炒饭,看下去白白的并没什么特别,但味道超好,超香。只可惜分量太少了,想再来多一盘又觉得有点贵。就这样吃完了我们清迈的第一餐。 Apple juice Fried rice Pad thai After meal, we returned to our hotel room, started enjoy our free and easy life. After rest, we borrowed motor bike from hotel to Baan Tawai Village. This place sells many wood products and we like those wooden product so much. If you like wooden product, this is the right place for you! 吃饱后,我们回房休息,开始废了起来,这无忧无虑的感觉真好。废够后,我们向工作人员借了电单车,问了方向后,就到附近的Baan Tawai Village瞎逛。途中不知正确位置,就询问当地居民,他都很乐意的为我们指明方向。没多久,我们抵达目的地,当地所卖的木制物品,比我们想象的还多,只可惜很多都是带不回的,比如座椅橱柜等等,但也有些小样物品,就如灯,装饰品,礼品,服装等。我们购买了木制吊饰品,80Baht一个以作为纪念。   The shops at Baan Tawai closed at 5pm. After shopping, we went to night market near to our hotel. It is a small night market but there are plenty types of food. Foods are cheap and delicious too. Papaya salad 25Baht, fried port skin 20Baht, pork ball 10Baht for 10pcs, fried "yao zha kuay" and pandan custard 13Baht, egg tart15Baht, crispy hat biscuit 10Baht, sago dessert 5Baht. We returned to hotel to enjoy the foods we bought, we liked most of them such as the appetizing papaya salad. We faced some difficultly when purchased papaya salad, we do not understand their language and want to ask them the price for papaya salad, we asked the aunty "How Much?", she did not understand us at all, and pointed us what they sell. I looked at the menu and point at number "25", she knocked her head, from there we guess it is 25 baht. Although we faced communication problem, but their help and positive attitude had warm our heart. Unlike many other places, when you ask and nego for price, but in the end you decided not to buy, you will get scold by the shop owner, but we did not see this happen in Chiang Mai. 逛了没多久,差不多傍晚五点,店铺开始关闭了。我们前往当地的巴刹购买晚餐。由于第一次逛当地夜市,看见当地的食物,即便宜,看试又美味,所以很兴奋地,买了一样又一样。当中有木瓜沙拉25Baht,炸猪皮20Baht,猪肉丸10Baht10粒,油条和Pandan Custard 13Baht,蛋塔15Baht,香脆帽子饼10Baht,沙谷甜品5Baht,及水。看,都很便宜吧?买完后,我们回到酒店享用晚餐。木瓜沙拉超好吃,是由青木瓜,红番茄,青茄子等,再加上各种调味品所调出来的。酸酸甜甜非常开胃。还记得我们买沙拉时,问他们"How Much?",他们完全听不明白我们问什么,只在比手画脚告诉我们她在卖什么,后来是看到牌上的价钱表,随便指一指才能让她明白。虽然语言完全不通,但他们用心来明白我们的疑问,及路人的乐心帮忙,温软了我们的心。至于其他的小贩,也是非常的友善,态度非常好,当你提问问题,或者购买东西时,他们都是以微笑来对待你。不只如此,就算问了不买,他们也OkOk笑笑回应你,并不会给你脸色看,和香港人实在是天地之差呢。吃完晚餐,我们继续废,就这样过了清迈的第一天。 Market near Baan Namping Fried "yao zha kuay" and pandan custard Crispy hat biscuit Our dinner Milk tea

今天是行程的最后一天了,不舍的心情涌了出来。没关系,好好享受这一天吧! 26/10/2012 8:30 感谢导游把我们带到一家卖玉的店,让我们有机会遇见全香港最有孝心的儿子。由于这位儿子妈妈的脚不方便行动,所以这位身为儿子的,代替母亲从香港赶来广州拜佛。好虔诚,好孝顺啊! 母亲就是这玉店的老板,所以这个做儿子的就是代妈妈拜了神后,再来这店面做生意,就这样巧合下,才有机会迎接我们这一团。这儿子还说,他的妈妈是在大马嫁过去香港的,所以和我们这班马来西亚的团友就算是瞒亲的啦。儿子的这一番话是在是感动呐。。。但,我信你才怪!听到这个"儿子"的废话,什么肮脏话都想骂出来,不骂实在对不起自己的心脏,让自己压着气,心脏却气得跳到乱七八糟实在不好! 这"儿子"还说今天是不做生意的,看看就好,叫我们不要买。每个玉的价钱是上百上千元的,但因为我们是"亲人",原本上百的玉只卖人民币50,你信吗?信你才怪!实在看不过这种耍生意的手法,一来浪费时间说废话,二来看到这种虚伪的做法,实在看不下去。 还好,最庆幸的是,本团是没有任何人购买任何东西的。谢谢大家合作!要是这样也有人购买,实在是。。。无话可说啊!我说嘛,做生意,老老实实好的,别转弯抹角,虚虚伪伪,这招不流行了啦!   26/10/2012 10:30 发泄完毕,到了吃午餐时间,没错,听废话听了一个早上。接下来,吃深圳金钱豹自助餐时间到啦!这里有上百种的食物,有中餐,日本餐,西餐,意大利餐,海鲜类的,烧烤类的,果汁,蛋糕甜品,雪糕等等。。。任你吃。领队说,这一餐要RM100++的,还满贵的呢。

 

3 Layer Electric Mini Rice Cooker

I bought a mini rice cooker lately, although I have slow cooker, rice cooker and some other types of cookers, I still decided to buy this mini rice cooker, reason is to cook baby porridge in faster and easier way. I had tried to use slow cooker to cook porridge, it took about 3 hours to get ready. Product description: 3 layer cooker come with timer, can cook rice, porridge and baby porridge. The timer function is very useful as we can set it to start cook at preferable time. I first try to cook lunch for Camus and myself before start to use it cook for baby. This is the first meal I cooked with the new cooker, ready marinate beef bought from AEON, steam pumpkin and rice. Simple meal enough for two. Second try with baby porridge, less than 1 hour to get it done, easy to clean too. You can manually set the time to cook longer or shorter (default setting at 55 minutes for baby porridge). Avocado with sweet potato baby porridge I did re-heat baby porridge for dinner too, by changing the setting to cook for 12 minutes. In summary, I really love this mini rice cooker with it's timer, easy to clean, easy to carry and fast to cook functions.

Logo31Merry Christmas 2015! We had four days holiday on this year Christmas, a super happy holiday mood to welcome this year Christmas.

We celebrated our Christmas at The View Restaurant, with their semi-buffet menu that can opt for either Turkey or Lamb for the main course. We get one Lamb and the other was rib eye steak that not in the menu.

Before the soup was served, we started with the buffet. Not much choices but some of them taste really good. They have salad, fingers food, fruits, and more. Desserts were one of my main focus, their tiramisu is one of the best that I had ever ate.

IMG_20150406_145954Camus and I took a day off from our busy life to enjoy our own sweet time. He brought me to this cafe located at Lebuh Macallum. He told me we can have our breakfast with coffee and bread kind of breakfast which I like. We arrived there on weekday morning around 10:30am and the cafe was very empty, only one customer during the time we were there. Plenty of parking space outside the cafe.

After enter the cafe, a young man passed us a menu, we seated and read through the menu. I was shocked when look at the menu and do not know what to order at the first glance, I focus on the price and feel hard to choose my meal as they are very expensive to me. In the end, we get one Macallum breakfast and Smoked Salmon Bagel, one cafe latte and one cappucino, there gone our RM55!

Talk about the cafe, I found this cafe is quite nice as the fragrance really attracted me when I first enter the cafe. I like the fragrance and it is quite different with other cafe as I can smell something soury. I am not sure what is this fragrance until I get my latte and cappucino. The sweet aroma of coffee taking over my senses, they are creamy, smooth coffee I longed for.

Maccallum breasfast came with sunny side up, avocado, chicken frankfurter, chicken bacon, grilled capsicum, baked potatoes, bread and salad. Portion is quite big. I like the chicken frankfurter which the size like german sausage.

Smoked salmon bagel came with smoked salmon with wasabi cream cheese, rocket leaves and pinch of capers. I do not understand most of the terms mentioned in the menu except for "smoked salmon". Now as I am writing, I compare the menu and photo I took, I cannot find "wasabi cream cheese" from my photo, why? Mana dia pi? Oh, the one spread between the bagel? It's wasabi cream cheese? Not butter? To me, this smoked salmon has nothing special but I do like rocket leaves. And now I know what is capers, it is the small tiny things appeared on top of the roll smoked salmon. Ooppsss, we do not finish that even though only served with 3 biji, what a waste? I thought they were just a decoration to the smoked salmon...

Overall, Macallum Connoisseurs Cafe is a good place to enjoy coffee but sincerely, it was a very expensive experience to me.

DS_1Out of many dim sum restaurant in Penang, Yong Pin restaurant is one of the best to Camus and myself. This restaurant has been serving dim sum for many years.

We had our early breakfast at Yong Pin last week. We order few types of dim sum with a pot of hot Pu Er tea.

Lo mai kai (steamed glutinous rice with chicken), not oily and texture of glutinous rice was just nice, not overcook like many others dim sum restaurant did, but you can only find a small piece of chicken, pork and mushroom in it.

We simply love the tradiotional taste of this fried radish cake. Not easy to get it at some where else.

CoffeeSmith_9When there are more and more cafe open in Penang, I wish I could visit them one by one to enjoy a cup of coffee but I only managed to go one of them recently. It is Coffee Smith that located at Maritime Piazza, Karpal Singh Drive.

We went there during Friday lunch, it was very crowded and we had to wait for a while to get our seat. The waiter gave us few copies of menu which I tought it was an advertisement booklet. I found it is quite special to printed menu in this way.

After grance through the menu, I found that their foods are quite pricey. In fact most of the cafes are selling foods at higher price range nowadays.

I ordered brunch set "Benny Duck Egg and English Muffin", it came with two duck eggs and ham on bread, two pieces of mini hamburger steak (very mini), fries and salad. This set includes one small cup of fruit juice and black coffee, RM24. The way they serve on "wooden plate" is special but I wonder how they clean the plate? Will it remained very clean after use for many times, will the stain leave behind the wooden material?

HengThai_1We found one Chinese-Thai food restaurant few weeks ago at Raja Uda, it was not our first intention to dine there. We were hungry and looking for something good and special for our dinner, we went to Kampung Baru for our first stop, looking for Japanese food, but there was an event held at Kampung Baru causing heavy traffic jam.

We changed our dinner place to Salad Bowl at Chain Ferry, bad luck, it was closed on that day. We drove towards Raja Uda direction, Sawara steamboat get our attention and we sat in to read the menu. After 5 minutes, we walked out from Sawara due to super expensive of the meal. Finally, we went in this not so attractive but crowded restaurant.

It was already 9pm and after make order, still have to wait for another 25-30minutes. I can say that it was worth waiting as the dishes that we ordered taste delicious and very similar to Thai local taste.

That time was only Camus and myself, two persons cannot order much. One big fish, two big prawns and a plate of mix vegetable make us very full and satisfied.

This assam Africa fish taste superb, hot, spicy and sour, just like assam soup. It came with some chinese cabbage too, very appetizing. This assam big fish cost about RM28, to me it is very worth as you will get big fish with delicious soup and vegetable in it.

When make order, the waiter asked is 4 big prawns enough for us? We said yes, but after that, he reduce our order to 2 big prawns. I was thinking, har? 2 prawn nia where got enough? But for first time, I thought it would be good to try 2 first, in case not delicious. When they served, I was shocked as big head prawn really big in size, luckily we did not order 4, and this 2 big head prawn cost us RM40. Gosh! If I order 4, I have to pay for RM80!! This plate of big head prawns was super delicious, sprinkle with chopped garlic and bird chili on top. They steamed with a kind of sauce, slightly sour, very special and delicious, if you ask me how the big prawn taste, I can say it tasted like lobster and crab. How good if I have the recipe?

To us, this is one of the best Thai food restaurant (another one is Mae Salong in Sungai Petani). They open during lunch time too. If you are looking for Thai food, visit this restaurant and give it a try.

Today is our last day in Chiang Mai, I hope it was our first day here. Our last destination was to Warorot Market. You can find all kind of stuff from this market, fresh flower, clothes, shoes, fabric, kitchen utensil, tower, food and many more. It is a local market where their local people will come here to buy their things.

第六天

今天是清迈的最后一天了,实在是不舍得回啊!但计划中要去的地方都去了,只剩下Warorot Market。从网上得知这里是本地人逛的市场,东西比较便宜又应有尽有。我们乘搭双条抵达该处,也是20Baht一个人。在这儿,从鲜花,衣服,鞋子,布,厨房用具,毛巾,吃的用的都有。

We had our last shopping here before return back to hotel for final packing.

我们在这里买了几匹布,衣服,皮带,草席帽,猪皮等,就完成了清迈的血拚。回到酒店收拾好行李后,到附近吃午餐。

We had the chance to taste their famous mango glutinous rice before we came back. It was really delicious. They also have durian glutinous rice which is very special and hard to get it from other place.

第一天来到这卖芒果糯米饭的摊口,看见他们已经收挡,还好最后一天还来得及吃上一碟芒果糯米饭及榴莲糯米饭,总算安心了。

We went to get a cup of coconut drink just opposite mango glutinous rice stall. The coconut drink is only 10Baht per big cup, delicious.

吃后觉得还是不太饱,就走到对面卖水摊口,买了一杯椰水,这椰水啊,真的很香很甜,才10Baht一大杯。Camus喝的最开心。

Then we go to another shop sells beef noodle which located the same row as mango glutinous rice.

我们也去到芒果糯米饭同排的面店,也不知他们卖什么,随便叫了一碗米粉汤面,原来是牛腩米粉汤,真的非常好吃。

After meal, we took Song Theaw to airport at 50Baht per person and end our journey at Chiang Mai.

之后,我们乘搭双条(50Baht一个人)抵达清迈机场,乘搭飞机飞回我国。就这样,结束了我们的清迈之旅。

 

旅途感想:

这次的旅行,可是我们那么多次的旅途中,其中一次很令我们大开眼界,喜出望外,惊喜连连的旅途。很多事件实在是让我们刮目相看,所以给我们留下了很多难忘及美好的回忆。

虽然这次的旅程花费超出预计,但受益良多,实在是让我们增广见闻。我觉得嘛,人生就得享受,懂得赚的同时,必须懂得花,只要不过于奢侈就行嘛。当地的食物,风俗,人情,景点,都让我们难以忘怀,真的还想再去多几次。清迈,是我们非常推荐的一个旅游城市,您也不妨亲自到哪儿体会体会当地的人情世故吧!

Today we joined one day trip to elephant show, 1400Baht each person, driver picked us in front of hotel. The package includes bamboo riding, elephant show, visit to long neck village, lunch, ride on oxford and elephant, visit to orchid and butterfly farm.

今天我们参与大象营一日游,一个人是1400Baht,有司机到酒店接我们。这一日游行程包括乘坐竹筒船,看大象表演,参观长颈村,免费午餐,乘坐牛车,骑大象,参观花园及蝴蝶公园。

Every activity was very attractive to us except for visit to orchid and butterfly farm. We truly respect the elephants' trainers as their elephants are all very well trained. You will experience how elephant drawing with their long nose.

除了参观花园及蝴蝶公园,每项都是很特别的。大象表演简直是让人大开眼界,真不能不佩服工作人员们平日的训练,看上去大象们即聪明又很能听指令。

After visit to long neck village, we had our lunch. It was buffet style lunch with fried chicken, rice, drink, fruit, etc.

参观完长颈村后,我们就吃午餐。午餐是自由式的,有不同的简单肉菜,白饭,水果,茶水等等。

 

After lunch, we ride on oxford and elephant. It was a very scary experience, I was really afraid that the oxford and elephant will do something to me, or I will fall down from elephant. Scary...

吃饱后我们乘坐牛车和骑大象。前者已让我觉得心慌慌,担心牛车会翻车。后者更加让我不放心,想象自己坐在高处,慢慢的在"空中"荡漾,真的很恐怖,又担心大象突然发癫,把我们甩下。还记得有一幕,当大象正从陆地下水的时候,大象前脚突然下去有深度的河,镇了一大下,吓得半条命,喊了好大声,一直期盼快点完成这路程。想想,真的很恐怖,要是有畏高的人,肯定比我还害怕。

We returned to hotel and end our one day tour after visited to orchid and butterfly farm.

After rest in hotel, we went to Kalare night bazaar & Anusarn Market with Song Thaew. The journey cost 20Baht per person.

The things sell in Kalare night bazaar are more expensive compare to Saturday and Sunday market. We had our dinner at food court before back to hotel.

我们觉得Kalare night bazaar的价钱比夜市场的还要贵,吃的用的也比较贵,所以就走马看花而已。走了好久,都不见好吃的,直到要回前,来到美食中心,所以就在这儿吃饱后才回酒店。

Tuk tuk, a "mini" taxi in Chiang Mai, with one driver and up to 2 passengers at the back. Like combination of motorbike and trishaw, is my favorite transport in Chiang Mai. I fall in love with this vehicle after my first ride on it. It costs 60Baht for two of us from night bazaar back to our hotel in Chiang Mai city. Best to take it at night with your love one, windy windy feel... "feng" left "feng" right...romantic...I have a simple wish, you know? I just wish I can own a tuk tuk, drive here and there, or sometime hire somebody to fetch me and dear Camus "feng" here "feng" there. Too bad, the distance from night bazaar to our hotel is too short, I don't really fully enjoy and we had already arrived at the destination. Now, can someone tell me how much does one tuk tuk cost in Chiang Mai?

我们选择tuk tuk车回酒店,60Baht一辆,挺便宜的。我一坐就喜欢上了这tuktuk车,机车感觉轻轻的在路上奔驰,夜里凉风吹来,好舒服,司机走的路线和双条不同,都是走小巷,所以很快就抵达酒店。tuk tuk车,我真是爱死你了。
